Hyesoo Yoo, Ph.D.
Dr. Hyesoo Yoo is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at Virginia Tech. Prior to this appointment, she worked at the University of Florida where she taught technology assisted music learning and musics of world (online MMME program). She received her first master degree in vice performance from Syracuse University and the second master in choral conducting from Florida State University. She received her Ph.D in music education in 2015 from the University of Florida.
She is currently a member of the editorial board for the Music Educators Journal. Her interests include learning outcomes of creativity, students' motivation, multicultural issues, and technology. She has published articles in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Edcuation, Music Educators Journal, and General Music Today. She has given presentations at international, national, and regional conferences such as NAfME (National Association for Music Educators), ISAME (International Symposium for Assesment on Music Education), SMTE (Society for Music Teacher Education), APSMER (Asian-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Resaerch), ACDA National Conference, and FMEA (Florida Music Educators' Association).

Sangmi Kang, Ph. D.
Dr. Sangmi Kang is an adjunct assistant professor of music education at the University of Florida, where she teaches Research in Music Education in the online Master of Music in Music Education program. Her research interests include technology and motivation in instrumental music learning, multicultural music education, and music learners' affective responses to music. She has published articles in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, General Music Today, and Update: Application of Research in Music Education. She has also presented her works at international, national, and regional conferences such as the NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education National Conference, the International Symposium on Assessment in Music Education (ISAME), the Asian-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research (APSMER), the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE) conference, and the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) conference. Sangmi Kang is a pianist, and a professional performer on the Gayageum (a traditional Korean stringed instrument). She has performed at several institutions, among them the University of Florida, the Harn Museum of Art, Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Kang is a general music specialist and licensed kindermusik educator. She has taught general and instrumental music in South Korea, and is currently teaching pre-K through 5th grade general music at the Gainesville Country Day School. From 2012 to 2016, she also taught Music in the Elementary Classroom, an undergraduate course at the University of Florida. She received her Ph.D. in music education from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in music education and bachelor’s degree in music with a focus on the performance of the Korean instrument Gayageum, both from Seoul National University in South Korea.
Dr. Kang is a general music specialist and licensed kindermusik educator.
