Lesson Plan for Listing to Arirang [Aɾiɾaŋ]
Grade Level: Grades 4-12, general music classes
Objectives:
· Students will be able to identify a jandan (rhythmic pattern) that is best match for Arirang.
· Students will be able to identify the musical piece played whether it is a Korean folk song.
Duration: approximately 10 minutes
Procedures:
1. Hand out the listening work sheet to students.
2. Have students listen to a jangdan and answer the question 1 on the worksheet.
3. Have students listen to a musical piece and answer the question 2 on the worksheet.
4. Have students listen to Arirang and discuss the music heard.
